THE TRIPLE A’S: Significance of the Last A’s
You have ANOINTING; that’s Great
Anointing gives you AUTHORITY,
But, don’t forget the place of a GODLY ATTITUDE
Look at the story of Saul:
1 SAMUEL 9:16-17: “To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt ANOINT him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
Verse 17: And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people(AUTHORITY)
1 Samuel 10:1 “Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?
Saul ruled over the land for years and the Bible mentioned that he was a GOODLY man.
Now in Chapter 15:19-23 it says:
Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the Lord, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the Lord? And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord , and have gone the way which the Lord sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal. And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord ? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
Saul was a goodly man but his attitude of being disobedient cost him a lot despite being anointed by God and having authority. Anointing is useless if you don’t have the right attitude. Anointing is a gift of authority, but one must learn to put away bad habits, disobedience and little things that can destroy the grace of God on our life.
Remember, God’s Grace called you forth and made you what you are today; don’t run ahead of God just because you have the anointing, it will cost you a lot.
See the latter end of 1 Samuel 15:35
And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the Lord repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
Anointing is excellent, Authority follows one being anointed but get a godly attitude. You need it to go far in your Christian journey.
When one fails God despite his grace and anointing upon our lives and we refuse to repent; there’s always a replacement waiting for you because God will surely not allow his work to suffer. That you’re not there doesn’t mean things won’t work out.
In 1 Samuel 16:1
And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Beth–lehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
David was anointed in the place of Saul, despite falling out of God’s favor; never was it accounted in the Bible that Saul repented and returned to God. Be careful of that little fall that will drag you totally away from God’s kingdom. That irredeemable fault that will make you an apostate. You can be replaced in God’s vineyard if you fall of grace but you can return and begin afresh with God.
Someone might be wondering, I have no anointing on my life; this doesn’t concern me. Of course it does, you as a child of God possess authority and you have been anointed and set apart ever since you gave your life to Christ. It concerns you and me.
Again I say, Mark 13:37 “And what I say unto you I say unto all, WATCH.”
