As believers, we’ve been taught to pray since we knew the left from the right which was defined as a means of communication between you and God.

Like 18: 1 charge us to pray and not faint because that’s the basis upon which our faith is built, but prayer becomes discouraging when results are not coming forth.

God is love and his nature is love. He doesn’t wish that you pray and you don’t get answers but he doesn’t have any choice if your prayers are not made according to his pattern.

Our faith weakens when we don’t get answers to our prayers. It sometimes seems that what you believe in is a lie.

A lot of Christians have stopped praying because they didn’t receive answers to their prayers which is why I took my time to point out the reasons you might not be receiving answers to your prayers.

Reasons why our prayers are not answered: Sin
  1. SIN
I made this the first reason because a man with iniquity in his heart is not a child of God. Before any other issue can be addressed, this needs to be discussed. Psalms 66:18 says; If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.

The prayer of a sinner is an abomination unto the Lord is what the Bible also says. A sinner is a stranger to God and this makes his prayers strange to God’s hearing. No sinner can ever get successfully to the throne of God for unlimited access without first renouncing their evil deeds.

Reasons why our prayers are not answered
  1. REFUSAL TO PRAY AN HEARTFELT PRAYER
Before any prayer can command the attention of heaven and rain results, it needs to be heartfelt. James 5:16b says the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

An heartfelt prayer is done with a focused mind. You pray without minding if someone is standing by you. I’m not talking about shouting and the display of gymnastics like some do. Everyone has their styles of praying but your prayer will only be heartfelt and bring results when you pray with your mind fixed on the throne of grace.

When you go to the place of prayer; don’t think about who you’re with, what you’ll eat, or the clothes you will wear; if you do, don’t be surprised when you don’t get answers because you just wasted your time.

  1. PRAYING WITHOUT THE WORD OF GOD
The word of God is the will of God and every prayer that expects an answer must be prayed following His will.

For your prayer to be answered, you need to have a basis and a ground on which your prayers should be answered. This is the Word of God.

In Isaiah 41:21, the Bible says we should produce our cause, saith the LORD; and bring forth our strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

Remind God what is written in His word. Approach Him with what’s written in the word.

The only thing that can also challenge the devil who might be a hindrance to your prayers being answered is the word of God because it’s a testament of His will.

Let a basis be given for your prayers to be answered. For everything you’ll need in life, there’s a passage or more to back it up in the Bible. Struggling to pray with scriptures, this can help

  1. REFUSAL TO PRAY IN THE NAME OF JESUS
We ought to pray to the Father in the name of the son which is Jesus Christ because His name is the access code to the throne of grace.

Answers to your prayers will only come when you pray using the access code to the throne of heaven which is the name of Jesus.

John 16:23 – And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

Whatever YOU ask the Father in His name will be granted unto you. I didn’t make up that rule; it’s written in the Bible.

The attention of God which brings answers to prayers can only be attracted when you step in in the name of Jesus.

You need to go to the Father in the name of the Son before you can get answers to your prayers because that is the access code. Pray in the name of JESUS.

  1. PRAYING AMISS
James 4:3 – Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

This point is synonymous with the third point above. Praying amiss means praying outside God’s will.

Every man on earth has a reason why he has been created which must be the basis of his prayer. Praying for someone else’s purpose to be fulfilled in your life is a wrong prayer basis, and this may be why you’re not receiving answers to your prayers.

If you’ve not been getting answers to your prayers, check what you’re praying for.

Imagine praying to God for a child at the age of 17; how does that make sense?

You need to check the motive behind your prayers. Are you praying just to make others feel little when you get answers?

Are you praying in a certain direction because someone close to you is on that path and jealousy has grown within you that you suddenly want to be on that path to outshine that individual?

Watch it! The motive behind your prayers determines whether they’ll be answered or not.

Like James 4: 3 says, prayers that are prayed to be consumed upon the lust of the flesh will receive no answers.

  1. LACK OF PATIENCE
It’s not every prayer you pray that you’ll receive answers to immediately. Your impatience might be the reason you think you’re not getting answers. Hebrews 6:12 says, That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

There’s always a period in every believer’s life when they need to wait for answers between the period of their prayers and manifestation.

In Habakkuk 2:2 – And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 2:3 – For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end, it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

That answers are not coming immediately doesn’t mean your prayers didn’t get to the throne of grace.

Maybe you have grown tired of waiting on God, and that was why you have concluded you’re not getting answers. WAIT ON GOD AND HIS PROMISES

Be patient. Wait for God’s appointed time for that particular request to be fulfilled. Know when God is saying WAIT. Nobody popularized the rule of waiting, it’s written in the Bible and it’s important we make it our guide.

These are just some of the reasons you’re not getting answers to your prayers, there are more. But, check your prayer life for these things and see where you can improve so that you can begin to get results.

God has assured us that when we call upon Him, He’ll answer us.

Soar, start praying aright and see how testimonies will flood your life. I am rooting for you.
