And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.
Isaiah 45:3 (KJV)
How to Receive God’s Treasure of the darkness
Jane was my closest friend, and the only person I could entrust the task of getting me a standard apartment. I had been out of the country for my master’s degree, and I would not want to return to my parents’ house. Not with their constant pressure for me to bring home a man. I arrived at the airport late, and Jane was there to pick me up. I was so glad to see her again.
“What is this, Jane”? I asked my friend as we drove into the compound. It was about 8 pm, and there was no sign of life in the building. I was not impressed with what I was seeing, and almost immediately, I told her I was not going to live in that house.
“Relax Chi, (that was Jane’s way of calling me. It was short for Chioma). Trust me; you would love the house”.
“But it’s dark here and the building isn’t even complete yet”. I replied
“I know, but in no time, you would not see this again”.
“Besides I have made available a generator you could use for the main time”. Chioma said, trying to convince me.
“Okay, at least see what the inside looks like before you conclude”. Chioma continued, smiling like she had a surprise for me.
“Well, what other surprise would I want to see?”. I thought to myself.
“Fine, but I can’t sleep here tonight. I would stay at your place until this place is fixed”. I said with fright in my voice.
I had told Chioma I wanted to live close to her. She said she could not find a better place as the good ones around were occupied. She had to go for this one. It was a new building, and the exterior had not been painted, the light was not connected yet. Because I was returning soon, the owner had to allow her to furnish an apartment, with the promise that everything will be completed in about a week.
This is beautiful! I exclaimed as we entered the apartment. The settings were just perfect. I had a view of the lakeside from my bedroom window. It became my favourite spot in the house.
“Thank you so much, Jane. I love this”. I told my friend, giving her a tight hug “My pleasure dear. I told you, you would love it”. She smiled widely.
I visited my parents after two days, and by the time I returned, I was marvelled at the transformation. But for the address, I would have thought I was at the wrong place. Thank God I chose to live there after all.
As Christians, our choices should be governed by God’s choice. Sometimes, God gives us His choice, and all we see is darkness, but in it are riches and hidden treasures. He knows what is best and most suitable for us. You may not know the way, but learn to trust God
I know that man/woman may not be your spec., but if God says “go”, please do. That job may not befit your qualification and intelligence, but it might as well be the entrance to greater opportunities.
You want to go for something you see as a great opportunity, and God says “wait”. Don’t be in a hurry; God’s blessings usually come in disguise.
As you grow in your walk with God, learn to trust His judgement over your choices. Only then shall you find the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places. But first, you must make sure you have a good relationship with him and seek to know His ways more.
Choose faith over fear.
There is undoubtedly light at the end of the tunnel.
