It is no news that every man who claims to be a saint at one point or the other has had different thoughts clung to his heart and passed the test of good and evil. However, the entertainment test has left many souls to wonder and question the essence of life itself.

Growing up as a child from a Christian background, with strict principles of Christian living, a good upbringing, and a parental rating to guide your path made life easy.

Now you are grown up and the movies and songs keep popping up on your phone, and that little voice keeps telling you, “This movie isn’t bad for you; relax and have some fun.” However, you don’t know whether is right or wrong. Continue reading to find out what the Bible says about entertainment.

What’s the Bible’s view on Entertainment?

Should a Christian watch TV? The Biblical opinion

How about I tell you that no place in the Bible referred to entertainment? It was only used as a sign of hospitality if you check deeply. In the same manner, movies, fun, games, and any other related subject hardly got referenced in the Bible; although we saw musical instruments used.

However, is music a sin? Take a look at Philippians 4:8 which says, “In conclusion, my brothers, fill your minds with things that are good and that deserve praise, true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. Put into practice what you learned and received from me, both from my words and from my actions. And the God who gives us peace will be with you.”

The Holy Bible wants you to only fill your mind with trustworthy things. Hence, answering the question of what you think is “good and bad” will help shape your choices.

Nevertheless, medical movies, inspirational movies, and Christian-based faith movies are good recommendations any day and anytime, as long as they follow God’s word.

What does the Bible say about movies? is it a sin or not?

Movie in itself isn’t a sin, however, you need to be careful about the kind of movies you watch or songs you listen to and your cravings for them.

When you begin to derive pleasure in the things of the world, you begin to crave vanishing pleasure at the expense of the Word of God. Then you are in for trouble.

When you are in trouble you first go to the movies to take the tension off or plug in your earphones to listen to secular music. Then you should know that you are now putting your confidence in movies for your relief and comfort, which is a sin against God.

The Bible says in Psalm 55:22, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

Furthermore, experiences reveal that some people constantly disturb their pastors over phone calls with the “nightmare” saga, calling it the devil’s attacks, whereas they are the effects of horror movies.

Some even go on promoting and allowing others to commit sins because of sexual scenes seen in the film.

Romans 12:2-3 gives us a warning, “Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world but let God transform you inwardly by completely changing your mind. Then you will be able to know God’s will, which is excellent and pleasing to him.”

Watching movies is not a sin but you have to depend on the Holy Spirit on which movies to watch or not.
